This is a very powerful and expressive statement. I am a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason. I think this is saying that if you dont have a plan in life, you can always find many paths to go down. You cant take the wrong road if you dont know where you are going. If you do have a goal then you have a path that is going to take you to that goal so you know what roads to follow. On the other hand, if you dont have a plan or goals, you can take many paths to get to a destination because you really dont have a true destination in mind. So, you cant take the wrong road if you dont know where you are going. As far as leadership goes, this is telling someone that just because they dont know what they are doing or have a plan, they arent wrong or doing bad in life. They just need a road to get them to that conclusion.
I can think of a few real life examples in my life where this statement has prevailed.
A little back story: In high school I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to go to college for. I switched between a few things like teaching elementary school, owning a business/entrepreneurship, and interior design. I decided to do business because that is a broad yet significant major to have future career wise
Since freshman year of college (two years ago) I decided that I wanted to become a real estate agent. I researched how I was going to go about it and started my courses in May of this year (2021). The real estate license program I was going through only allowed me to finish it in 6 months. A lot of things happened in those short 6 months including the death of my grandfather who raised me and I considered my actual father since my biological dad isnt around. That took a huge toll on me and I couldnt concentrate on my real estate classes. I kept putting it off, avoiding it, and making excuses for not finishing it. The thing that I figured out was that maybe I just wasnt truly interested in it as much as I thought I would be. This brought me down a different path I decided I wanted to go on. I decided that my true passion for houses lied in the interior design aspect which I have been interested in for many years, I had just been hesitant because of my artistic abilities not being where I want them to be. My uncle reached out to his close friends who own an interior design business and told me that I could work for them when I get the chance to! I think I was meant to go down the wrong path in order to find the right path that would lead me to a better destination.

Reflecting on the statement, "If you do not know where you are going, any road will get you there. I believe this statement to be true in the matter of if you have no sense of direction any achievement along the way seems like a great accomplishment. I take on life with this type of direction, I have no sort of plan, I just go with what feels right. When I went to college, I never imagined myself getting married before my third year, getting pregnant with my daughter my third year, and my school-going bankrupt. But it did and got there. I did not imagine doing online school for my last year for a university in St. Paul, Minnesota but I did and I got here and it is an accomplishment. I have no direction of what I really want to do in life, but I do believe I will get there and it will be done.
"Having a larger repertoire of emotional intelligence strengths can make a leader more effective because it means that leader is flexible enough to handle the wide-ranging demands of running an organization" (Goleman, p.77, 2013). In my case, my family is my organization and I am flexible with where ever life will take me, I am able to use my emotional intelligence strengths in guiding my family to succeed and be effective in the season we are in.
