I think we should focus on Affluence, having to do with overconsumption because there is a global imbalance. Its easy to say, 'Oh humans are overpopulating and destroying the earth' but in reality yes we are overpopulating but we are destroying the globe by over consuming products Americans don't need at all. In the US we overconsume daily and other countries they under consume which was an interesting fact for me to think about. The article said consumption is far more complex than overpopulation and I believe that because I had a thought, what if world trade evened out the playing field but that's where the complex part come in. The US is under an economic war with other countries so there's no way in hell consumption will be balanced. Hence why Affluence is something we should put a lot of effort into tackling. I agree with the equation because its a simple equation to theoretically analyze for better solutions in the world when it comes the three components. 2. Using the calculator I discovered we would need 6 planets to sustain the earth if everyone lived like me. The result was surpassing to me and made me realize the significant impact of my consumption habits. My footprint is likely much higher than the majority of people In the world, especially those in developing countries who consume far less. While everyone should have the right to meet their basic needs I think the idea of an "equal right" to the same level of ecological footprint is complicated. It is not feasible of everyone to consume at the highest levels without causing sever environmental damage. Instead, there should be a focus on equitable distribution of resources and sustainable practices. By making conscious choices and adopting sustainable technologies, we can work towards a more balanced and sustainable world
