How did that person describe the problem, and how did their description affect how you viewed or approached the problem?

Examples:

When my company switched from remote work to requiring two days a week in the office, the CEO sent out an email explaining his reasoning. He said that people were $$taking advantage of the flexible work policy$$ and that $$not everyone was doing their best work at home.$$ A lot of us found this patronizing and it made us resentful about coming back to the office, even though we might not have minded otherwise.

A manager at my work needed volunteers for an after$-$hours event, so they presented it as a way to earn a long weekend $($if you stayed late to volunteer, you could take a Friday afternoon off$).$ A lot of us then viewed volunteering as an exciting opportunity instead of a chore.
