Grade K: Students work with the numbers 11-19. They need to learn their place value and how to group them.
Grade 1: Counting Sequence. Students should be able to count to 120 starting at any number. They need to understand place value and that a two digit number has a ones and a tens place value. They need to know which number is smaller or larger based on place value. They also need to know how to line their numbers up based on place value in order to add or subtract numbers.
Grade 2: They need to know place value for ones, tens and hundreds. Students should be able to count forward and backwards by ones, tens and hundreds starting at any number. Again, students should be able to line up numbers correctly based on place value in order to add or subtract.
Grade 3: By this grade students should be able to round their numbers by the hundredth and also adding or subtracting three digit numbers. They also will be able to multiply one digit numbers by tens.
Grade 4: By grade four they should be able to identify place value for a multi digit number. They should be able to add, subtract and multiply these numbers. They should also be able to write them in standard and word form.
Grade 5: By grade five they should know all their place values. They should be able to do decimals with place value now and be able to read, write and explain them.
