Select True or False to each of the following statements about this week's elastic collision experiment. In order to receive credit for this question you must answer ALL statements correctly. Most of the Excel formulas are pre-programmed for your use, including the direction in each cart is moving after the collision with the applicable sign(+ or -). Set the photogates to PULSE mode and the memory switch set to ON. In trials 3 and 4, Cart 1 will transfer all of its momenta to Cart 2. To approximate a final velocity of zero, the lab manual suggests using a large time of at least 10 seconds. After the first cart passes through the first photogate, you must memorize the first time that appears on the photogate and reset the timer before either cart passes through another photogate. Move the carts along the air track prior to turning on the air to prepare for each experimental run.
