I. OBJECTIVE
The objective of this lab is to implement the shot clock you designed in the last design project on the DE2-115 board. You will also work with your customer (Instructor) in order to make sure they are satisfied with the final product.
II. PROCEDURE
Starting with your design projects files, implement the design on the FPGA board and use that as a starting point.
It is beneficial to keep an open communication line with your customer knowing that there might be slight changes in the deliverables and that problems might arise any time. It is also much better to detect problems/issues at the early stages of project than detecting them when all the work has been already done.
Here are a few helpful hints:
- People at the ARC do not understand binary numbers. Even the very small percentage of people who do understand binary numbers, they don't want the shot clock displayed in that format.
- The athletic department had already purchased, at a previous time, a display adapter that is available for you to use with your system. It is available on blackboard for your convenience (Display.bsf and Display.bdf)
- This is an open ended project. There is no right or wrong solution. If you think of an additional feature that will impress the customer, bring it up to them and propose implementing it.
- The customer is NOT an engineer! They maybe unaware of the technical possibilities/limitations. You are the engineer. Don't be hesitant to convey technical information in a language that the customer can understand.
- Pin assignments for some of the peripherals are attached with this handout. If you need to find others, feel free to look it up in the DE2-115 user manual (available off the internet).
Once you are all set, demonstrate your final product and get the customer to sign off the delivery.
