Part B - Select Topics for your Better World Project scope

Your Better Me: Better World Project must include elements from all 5 Leadership Development categories listed below.

1. Physical Development
2. Intellectual Pursuits
3. Emotional Care
4. Ethics
5. Service to Others

Project Scope Example:

• Complete an entire weight-lifting program (Physical Development)
• Read 10 memoirs from noted leaders and write a paper (Intellectual Pursuits)
• Listen to a meditation app 5 days a week (Emotional Care)
• Take an online ethics course specific to your industry (Ethics)
• Mentor a peer through goal-setting strategies for 3 months (Service to Others)

Step 2: Make a Project Plan

While this is not a finalized version of your project, and you may have twists and turns along the way, starting with a basic plan will help you achieve your goals.

Your plan should include:

• The main goal of the project (with 2-3 sub-goals if necessary)
• A realistic 18 or 36 week timeline with specific milestones to achieve over the selected time period
• A list of resources you need to successfully complete the project (ex. access to a gym)
• A list of key stakeholders who can help you with your project and/or who could benefit from your project
• A short description of your project in paragraph form

Step 3: Submit Your Better World Project

Include all of the information in the proposal questionnaire below. You must wait for proposal feedback and approval from a member of the NSLS Education Team before implementing your full Better World Project.

Step 4: Receive Approval from the NSLS Education Team

Please allow up to 5 business days for a member of the NSLS Education Team to review your project and approve it. If your proposal doesn't meet requirements, you will receive feedback indicating what changes need to be made, and you will be required to resubmit your proposal before moving on to the implementation phase.

Required Better World Project Proposal Questionnaire

1. Better World Project Proposal Title
2. Identify your project scope by providing a list of project components that you plan to achieve over the next 18-36 weeks. Make sure to include all 5 categories (Physical Development, Intellectual Pursuits, Emotional Care, Ethics, Service to Others)
3. The main goal of the project (with 2-3 sub-goals if necessary)
4. List the resources needed to complete your Better World Project (resources, stakeholders, etc.)
5. One paragraph summary explaining the goals of your Better World Project
6. Create a realistic timeline with specific milestones that align to an 18 or 36 week calendar.
