You are are informed that one of two activities will need to be extended. You can choose which activity will take longer. The options are: (a) extend Activity A by 4 weeks, or (b) extend Activity J by 1 week. Assuming you don't want the total project duration to go over its original time estimate, which activity will you choose to extend, Activity A or Activity J. Explain your answer.

You are now informed that neither Activity A or J need to be extended. In fact, you now can reduce the time required for certain activities. Below are two options for shortening activity durations. Assuming you want to shorten the overall project duration the most, which of the two options should you choose? What is the new project duration (in weeks)? What is the critical path in this case? The options to choose from are:

Option (1): You can shorten Activity B by 8 weeks and Activity F by 3 weeks, or

Option (2): You can shorten Activity B by 5 weeks and Activity C by 5 weeks
