 The Shift Supervisor performs the role of RC in the ECC. Shift Supervisors progress through the System Operator positions which perform the TOP, TSP and BA functions and thus are familiar with the tasks and responsibilities of each. Shift Supervisors are expected to complete all of the training offered as part of the Continuing Training Program. Additional training will focus on the development of the leadership and management skills of the Shift Supervisors. Management/Leadership courses offered by Human Resources are recommended training for Shift Supervisors. An example of this training would be the Leadership Fundamentals Program. These courses will be identified for the Shift Supervisors as part of the development plan in the performance review process each year. The primary goals of the Shift Supervisor Training are as follows: Demonstrate leadership in the control room and accept overall responsibility for maintaining safety and reliability; Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the job task routines performed within the control room in all three operating states: normal, emergency and restoration; Demonstrate the ability to utilize all network analysis advanced applications to monitor and control the power system within all reliability limits; Demonstrate the ability to follow set reliability limits including thermal limits, voltage limits, reactive transfer limits and stability limits; and Demonstrate knowledge of system restoration techniques, strategies and procedures
