2. Where is it done? Describe the distribution channel environment. Give background data including: dollar sales, number of firms, number of employees, geographic concentration, competition type and intensity, etc. Discuss major trends affecting the channel (e.g., concentration of firms, legal concerns, population shifts, new technologies, etc.).
3. Who/what does it? Describe the kinds or types of retailer-wholesalers-distributors-manufacturers in the channel and discuss their importance. Is it extensive or intensive distribution? Is the channel integrated? Discuss channel role prescription and compensation.
4. How is it done? Identify the policies and procedures that "drive" the channel. Try to find information on; typical discounts, margins, freight procedures and charges, return policies, financial assistance, protective provisions, legal constraints, etc. Identify and discuss issues related to channel power and conflict. Describe how conflict is managed within the channel (e.g., using principal agent theory). Describe the channel communication and information systems with attention to key decision areas, decision levels, and information needs. 5. Recommendation: Based on the analysis, list one or twokey problems confronting the selected distribution channel. Also list a recommendation as to the proper course of action to be taken in order to resolve the problems facing the channel.
