This is a group assignment where you will have the opportunity to apply the course content in a practical way by planning a real project using the predictive approach. Your group must choose among one of the following 3 types of projects:
The expanding an on-going business organization to a new location (coffee shop, pet store, restaurant, etc.)
A renovation or redesign a part of an on-going business organization
Developing a new product or service by an on-going organization
Exclusion List of Topics
Development of Mobile Applications or any other type of applications.
Weddings, birthday parties.
The assignment comprises of 2 sections:
Part 1: Initiating and Planning Scope (20%)
Part 2: Planning Schedule, Cost, Risk, and Lessons Learned (20)
Whatever your choice, the duration of your project must be at least 3 months (from start to completion).
The budget for your project is approximately CAD 500,000
Templates for some components are provided. For the other components you may design your own templates based on the study materials in the eCentennial course content and in Textbooks. Whichever template you use, the assignment requirements must be met. Gradings will be based on the rubric provided for evaluation.
1.1. Organization of Groups
i. This assignment will be undertaken by a group of 6 students. Members of each group will nominate a focal person to communicate with the Professor (Sahaj).
ii. Each student is required to read the full assignment report prior to submission to ensure logical flow and coherence.
iii. Contribution of every member of a group must be clearly indicated in the relevant sections contributed by that member.
iv. All members of a group will receive the same mark. In exceptional circumstances when issues relating to unequal contributions by the group members are brought to the professors notice prior to the submission or when the professor observes very poor contribution from a few students from a group, the assignment for those students will be will be weighted with 80% for individual contribution and 20% group contribution. By this means the students who attempting to be free riders will be penalized.
v. The members of any group are also welcome to communicate with the professor when there are special issues involved or when the focal person is not available for communication.
1.2. Format and Submission of the Reports
i. All documents to be submitted in word document and it will be typed in single space with Arial or other sans serif of font 12 on letter sized (8.5*11) paper with one-inch margins all sides.
ii. The font sizes of text within a table may smaller (e.g.,9) but they should be legible on a printed paper.
iii. The document must be presented in an essay format and not solely with bullet points. If bullet points are to be used in your document, there must a lead-in (introductory) line which should be a complete sentence. Sections of the document with only bullet points will be penalized
iv. If tables are to be used in your document, please ensure that you provide explanation for the table below or above the table.
v. Do not repeat in your document, the explanation/guidance provided in the template
vi. Do not submit your assignment as a PDF document. If submitted, it will not be graded.
vii. Each part of the group assignment must be submitted as a single document and not in small sections done by various group members.
viii. Each part submission must not exceed 6 pages. A report that exceeds page limit of 6 pages will be penalized at 10% per excess page on final marks allocated for that part of the assignment.
ix. The page limit excludes cover page which should be a single page.
x. Table of contents and references are not required
xi. If formatting did not follow all or most of the formatting requirements (including page numbers, fonts, paragraphing, page limits, margins, title pages or leaving blanks in pages), the report may not be evaluated, and may even receive a zero for the assignment.
xii. Delay in submitting each part of the report of the project will result in a penalty of 10% per calendar day on the final marks of that part of the assignment,.
xiii. Dates for Submission of reports are:
a. Part 111.00 PM Saturday February 10,2024
b. Part 211.00 PM Tuesday March 21,2024
Except for the submission date for the Part 1, the dates for submission of other parts may be changed based on the progress we make in our course.
