TLC Please insert you tlc picture, calculate your rfs. Based on your tlc what reasonable conclusions can you draw about whether there was a reaction or not and how far it proceeded (i.e. is there unreacted starting material. Are there any indications/trends on the tlc that are consistent with what you would expect for your desired product? Can you definitively conclude based upon this tlc that you made camphor?
3. Percent Yields: Please calculate the percent yield for the reaction. Please take into account the purity of your product. In other words, if you find you have 0.150g of crude product and you decide that your product mixture is only 75% camphor (because you estimate that there is 25% leftover borneol) then your actual yield is: 0.75 X 0.150g = 0.112g. So it would be the 0.112g that you divide into your theoretical yield in order to calculate your percent yield. If there are no signs on your tlc of left over borneol that assume then your crude product mixture is 95% pure for the above calculation. Again, please show all calculations in the labeled fashion shown in question 1.
