Today, you will be separated into groups $-$ the company group $($which contains Bobby Boss, John Demanding, and the Company Lawyer$),$ the union group $($which contains Wally Worker, Sidney Steward, and the Union Lawyer$)$ and the arbitrators. You will work together to prepare for the simulated Arbitration session that will take place next week.

Some things to note:

The company and union groups have information which is not available to the other groups. They may or may not present it$.$ It is the lawyer's responsibility to make sure that all of the relevant information is presented $--$ either under the original examination or under cross examination.

Arbitrators control the meeting. There is a standard procedure $($see Chapter $11)$ however if the arbitrator deems it necessary they can change it$.$

Arbitrators are allowed to ask questions of witnesses when they are on the stand.

Arbitrators can make decisions that are outside of the two positions at hand $...$ eg$.$ order training for any party, disallow evidence, etc. but only if a good justification is given in their ruling
