There was likely an ethical dilemma where the person decided to do one thing and not another that landed them into trouble. Some ideas on where to look for your article are listed below:
  • The agency website where the person works
  • News media sources
  • Social Media information released by an agency or official source
  • Court records
  • Any other official source
• The second step is to briefly describe the situation, the ethical issue and dilemma. Consider the options that were open to the person and the ramifications of each option that you consider.
• The third step is to consider if the person should be held to a higher standard than the average citizen, either due to their position, authority that they wield power, ability to vote on the issue or make a ruling about the issue.
• Finally, explain what your opinion is about the situation. Would you have acted the same way, or would you have taken a different approach than the public servant did?
