This learning activity is designed to help students understand the various aspects of project scope. It will guide students in understanding what scope means, what is considered in scope and out of scope, and how to collect scope information, including from whom and by whom it should be collected.
The activity will also lead students through the processes of managing scope, which include defining scope, planning scope management, managing scope, and controlling scope. It will provide insights on how to appropriately collect scope using various methods.
Students will be expected to understand the components of scope and the concept of scope creep, which is prevalent in Predictive projects. In terms of control, students will learn what it takes to ensure that the project team is working within the defined scope and what measures to take if there is a need to expand the scope.
Furthermore, students will explore how scope is conceptualized in both Predictive and Adaptive project environments. They will understand the importance of engaging stakeholders (users, customers, and subject matter experts) appropriately.
This topic will be presented by student groups following a lecture on this subject. The aim is to foster a comprehensive understanding of the relevant concepts that can be built upon in future activities.
