Project Procurement Planning

Project procurement planning outlines how the procurement process will be effectively managed to achieve the projects objectives. As such, procurement planning must be specifically tailored to meet the needs of various projects.

This activity allows students to demonstrate their understanding of why an organization might choose to purchase an item they could build themselves, and the importance of outsourcing. Students are expected to debate the best types of contracts for the project at hand, how to select the best vendors to ensure project quality and successful delivery of component deliverables.

Furthermore, students are expected to master the use of relevant tools and techniques that will transform inputs into the desired project procurement management plan. They will also provide insights into how to conduct and control procurement.

The assessment will be based on the presentations delivered by the students. This activity aims to equip students with practical skills in project procurement planning and management.

Activity

This is an in$-$class activity that will be prepared and presented in groups.

Consider a building or construction project that you are familiar with. Explain why it made sense to the organization to build instead of purchasing. Why or why not opt for a cost reimbursable contract for the project?

Identify and explain why $3$ of the tools and techniques are important for plan project procurement.
