We have had some issues lately with organizations serving food out of their community kitchen or individuals bringing food from home to serve to the public. This has presented a bit of a problem since not everyone understands the risks of food borne disease. Many of the town organizations are planning a major food event that will showcase food from around the world. We need to make sure that everyone involved fully understands how to prevent foodborne illnesses in the preparation and delivery of the food they prepare. This will also need to include the requirements for where food can be prepared and any other requirements. We want to avoid homemade food. We will inspect the sites where food will be prepared but we really need you to educate all who will be involved. Could you prepare a 15-minute presentation on what foodborne illness is, what causes it, how it is transmitted, how to prevent it. You should also include information about proper sanitation, the use of foods that could be contaminated when purchased, and challenges because of the global supply of food. We will get everyone involved together so you can make your presentation."
