Week 8 Lesson Overview: Production Scheduling & control Scheduling follows directly after master planning. The schedule is where the start and finish times for each operation are sequenced, timed, and downloaded to the production departments for each SKU or finished product planned for the planning-period in the master plan. We will start with the simplest scheduling option, a Single-machine Scheduling plan consisting of n jobs with the same operation or set of operations on each job. Then we look into the concepts involved in Flow Shop Scheduling where n jobs with m operations on each job must be scheduled through a sequenced operation. Finally, we will review the Job shop Scheduling where n jobs with m operations are required on each job; however, in a job shop environment, the sequence of jobs may be significantly different from each other.
