When I think of an example of how a geographical location of consumers can affect your selection decision for the best distribution channels; Immediately I think of Amazon. Amazon is an extremely important distribution channel in today's society. As of January 2022, Amazon has over 1,137 distribution centers across the US. Although Amazon is among many sellers who follow the market price for identical commodity products, Amazon is an expert among it's competitors. According to Yahoo Finance "Thereputation of e-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) remains the best among the nation's 100 most recognizable companies".

Amazon serves as a distribution center as well as a warehouse which is accommodating to both sellers and consumers.

The geographic location is relevant to distribution channels because it is the pathway from wholesalers, retailer, and or service provider to the consumer. Consumers and manufactures want to work with a distributer who is reliable and timely with multiple resources to ensure the consumers needs are met. The distribution channel in which Amazon relies on is online communication. A consumer who is a prime member will be able to receive their purchase next day, which is an awesome service. There are many other distribution centers located outside the US whose products or services may cost less however the turn around time from manufacturer to consumer may differ.

As a supply chain manager, during the pandemic I have learned so many of our daily used items are manufactured out of the country and because the pandemic affected so many people all over the world product sorting, storing and shipping were highly affected.
