Certain logical relationships are implied by the bar chart that has been supplied to you by the field superintendent who has been chosen to run the job. According to contract specifications your company must submit a network scheduling (CPM) to the owner. Knowing that you are a CPM expert, your boss has given you the job of setting up the network. He or she also has asked you to calculate the project duration in working days. The duration of each activity can be developed from the dates given on the bar chart.

Mobilization and procurement activities are as follows:

• There is only one excavation crew.

• There is one set of formwork material for footers and abutments.

• Project duration should be approximately 65 days long.

• General sequence of activities:

• Excavation, piles driven, footer, abutment, and deck 

• Forming, pouring, curing, and stripping 

• To calculate the workdays from the bar chart, assume June 17 is a Thursday. Workdays are Monday through Friday.
