Chapter 4 Case Assignment Internal Control Case Tight Lines Fishing and Camping Supplies Using the narrative process descriptions starting on page 200, students must create a System Flowchart for the Tight Lines Fishing and Camping Supplies Sales and Cash Receipts process. Flowcharts will be graded on completeness (did you include all components of the process) clarity and neatness. Flowcharts should be completed in Excel. Two separate flowcharts should be made; 1) Sales Process, 2) Cash Receipts Process, but both should be included in one Excel workbook (2 different tabs within one workbook). The Excel template provided in the week 1 module on Moodle can be used (but does not have to be used) to complete the assignment. The shapes and arrows to be used to prepare the flowchart can be found by following these steps: 1. Click on the Insert tab in the Ribbon Menu in Excel 2. Select the Shapes menu 3. Both the Lines and Arrows and the Flowchart menus will be used most often. Once added, the shapes can be moved around simply by holding down the right click and moving them to the desired location in the Excel sheet. The size of the shape can be adjusted by clicking on the shape and dragging the margins. Text can be included in the shapes by simply clicking ONCE on the shape and typing. Students can format their final flowcharts in any way they see fit (coloring of shapes and font, shading of Excel columns, etc.). In addition to preparing the flowchart, students must identify weaknesses within the processes, and communicate those weaknesses in a MEMO to management. Students should use the lecture materials on proper internal controls as a guide to understand what controls or activities are missing or ineffective for this company. Memo's must be NO LONGER than 2 pages, typed, single spaced, with appropriate memo format (i.e, heading resembling an email, no paragraph indentation). Memo templates from Microsoft Word can be used for formatting purposes. Memos will be graded on both content and effective writing in the following manner: Accounting Content (50% of points): Identification of internal control issues . Logical analysis of the issues .
