Throughout the course you have completed self-assessments and were asked to reflect upon your previous experiences and your current paradigms on a myriad of topics within the larger management field. For this final assignment, you will be asked to mindfully reflect upon the process of your growth and consider areas for further development and action steps to take.
Address the following questions:
What insight did I gain from the skills assessments?
How do I rate myself as a collaborative learner? What grade would I give myself and why?
What are the challenges I face when working collaboratively? How can I overcome them?
How have I grown over the term?
How will I integrate the knowledge from this course into my work?
What changes do I want to make in the future?
What steps will I take to makes these changes? Create a plan for personal leadership development. Include specific:
competencies/skills to develop
potential obstacles to overcome (internal or external)
action steps for each
resources (human and/or materials) for each
timeline to implement action steps for each
desired outcomes for each
Your development plan can be created as a table, matrix, or other visual map to make it easier for you to refer back to in the coming months as you implement your plan. You may include rewards for achieving your goals but remember that leadership development is a process that evolves over a lifetime. Set simple rewards along the way if that is what will keep you motivated.
This plan can be considered a private conversation between you and the instructor. This is an opportunity to reflect upon your leadership development challenges and achievements. This may be less formal and with first person language, but appropriate academic level writing and integration of supporting academic source materials is still expected.
