Hello, expert please read this article and answer the question below. Thank you.

Joe Grimmond has responsibility for, among other things, training of new sales staff at WeCall, a medium-sized telemarketing company in Winnipeg. The firm provides telephone marketing services to a growing number of local and national companies. Using lists of names, addresses and phone numbers provided by the market research department, the salespeople at WeCall make cold calls to potential customers for their client's products and services. The sales staff are given a written pitch to deliver and they are expected to respond to whatever the customer says as they try to make a sale. Each salesperson will sell many different products in a given week depending on their clients needs. The sales staff works in one large room with as many 25 people on the phones at any one time. There is normally only one supervisor in the phone room and salespeople report to whoever is supervising at the time. Pay is by way of a small base hourly rate plus commission. Joe is concerned that sales have been slipping lately. He is also aware that turnover has always been relatively high and he would like to do something to reduce it. A majority of the new hires WeCall takes on are recent graduates from high schools, colleges and universities; often they are looking for some income while waiting for other career opportunities. About 25% of the staff are old hands at the job, are quite successful and enjoy the work. Training now consists of a two-hour group lecture and video presentation session where new employees learn about telemarketing techniques and get a short introduction to the company and the industry. Following this meeting, the new staff go right onto the phones and are expected to either sink or swim.
