Help me respond to this student post
I have been listening to loving kindness meditations for the past few weeks. Some days, I can sit quietly and close my eyes; others are hectic, and I play loving kindness on my phone or the Alexa in the house. Something I have noticed about myself is that some days, it feels impossible to take time for self-care; I consider mindfulness as self-care. What I have realized is that I need to practice loving kindness to myself more than ever. I have mentioned before that I am a mom to twin boys who are 20 months old now. I am with them 24/7 and feel isolated some days. I have come to realize as a mom, I struggle with a lot of mom guilt. You probably think mom guilt is normal, and all moms have it. That may be true, but for me, it's much deeper at times. There have been times when the guilt has taken over mentally, and it has damaged my self-esteem as a mom and a person. I am learning to love myself again and to allow myself to feel hard things without any negativity. Loving Kindness has helped me with this Journey.
What I like about Loving Kindness Meditations is how you send kind thoughts to those you know, those you may not know, all living things, and yourself. I researched Loving Kindness Meditations to gather more information on the topic. I came across an article by Sharon Salzberg about the benefits of loving-kindness meditations. Something that she mentioned that I resonated with is, "May I be free from danger, may I know safety.Danger in that sense is both inner danger from the force of certain mind states, and outer danger. So,May I be free from danger. May I have mental happiness. May I have physical happiness. May I have ease of well-beingwhich means may I not have to struggle terribly, day by day, with livelihood, with family issues." Changing the words to something that resonates with you and your daily life can make a positive difference when practicing loving kindness.
