Part of the reason for the lingering wage gap can be attributed to a lack of ethics training of mangers/executives. Ethics training is training used by an organization to instill ethics in employees(Schermerhorn, John R, and Daniel G Bachrach, 2017, p.78).As someone who has been through a lot of equal opportunity (EO)training,I can see that many people feel that enduring an hour of such training a year is unbearable. Therefore, they usually make some sort of excuse to miss it and never end up making up their training. This leads to poorlyeducatedchoices down the line, such as deciding how much a person's salary should be dependingon their gender. Another reason for this gap is the fact that women are usually the ones expected to give up their careers and income upon the birth of a child. When my son was born, people would come up and ask me "if I was ready to be a stay-at-home mom", even though I never made any inclination of leaving my job.

An unfair wage gap can only have a negative affect on all of the things listed above. For families, having one person making less than they deserve only causes harms because these families then have less money to spend on necessitiesand to put away in savings for future needs. This detriment then moves up the chain to communitieswhere having a lower income overall leaves them at risk for things such as crime. The economy also suffers because instead of spending, these families are saving every last penny just in casea tragic event occurs. Finally, one thing businesses don't realize is just how much having a wage gap negatively affects them. Many businessessee money not given to employees is money saved. In reality, thisis causing businesses to lose money because if an employee sees a better, fair opportunity elsewhere, they probably won't hesitate to leave their current job in pursuitof the better option. It costs much more money for an employer to go find new employees than to maintain current ones. Also, the wage gap has a negative affect on morale of women at work. 75% of women 18-32 believemore must be done to ensure workplace equality(Schermerhorn, John R, and Daniel G Bachrach, 2017, p.97) and if women feel that their employer isn't doing their part, their work quality will likely go down. Society suffers because it is then stuck in a never-ending negative trend of doubting women and not benefiting from all the great potential women have to offer.

Personally, I don't believe this is true. All parts of the family make sacrifices when a baby is born, but this does not mean a woman should have to quit her job to have a family. Part of this belief stems from poor leadership (immoral and amoralmangers). Immoral manager choose to behave unethically and amoral manager disregard ethics of their choices and decisions, but do no unintentionallyorunknowingly(Schermerhorn, John R, and Daniel G Bachrach, 2017, p.77). Both managers make decisions that can force a woman out of working, such as not allowing maternity leave or time for doctor's appointments, and forcing her hand to having to sacrifice her job in order to have a family.

When is comes to government intervention to close to wage gap, I believe the responsibilityfor procedural and distributive justice falls on the government. Procedural Justice involves the degree in which policiesand rules are fairly applied to all individuals. Distributive justice involves the degreeto which outcomes are allocated fairly across employees without respectto individualcharacteristics such as ethnicity, race, gender, age, etc(Schermerhorn, John R, and Daniel G Bachrach, 2017, p.70-71). The government should closely monitor all casesof procedural justice to make sure the cases in handled fairly and completely. The government should also make sure companies are upholding distributive justice by requiring that all outcomes (rewards, vacationtime, etc) are documented and then compared to historical norms to ensure no one is getting discriminatedagainst or short-changed because of individual characteristics. The responsibilityof upholdinginteractionaljusticethen falls on the company. Interactionaljustice is the degree to which others are treated with dignity and respect. Companies need to make sure women are treated with dignity and respect in the work placebecausethat is the starting place to close the wage gap. It is an absolute necessity that women are seen as an equal to men because this is the first stepping stone to having workplace equality. Educators needs to provide mandatory ethics training to ensure that only people of the highest ethical degree are in a position of authority.

Question 7: Have you seen examples of age, racial or gender-based imbalance in compensation? What do you think drives any such gaps?

Personally, I have not seen any examples of a wage gap in these areas because I have been in the military since I was 18. The military uses a rank-based system that does not change depending on the individual holding the rank. Just because I haven't personally seen these imbalances, doesn't mean they don't exist. I believe what drives such gaps is historicaltrends of paying older employees, females and minorities less than others. These historical trends continue to this day because "That's just how it's always been."
