This arrangement enhances the switch complexity since it expands the switch fabric size by using these additional auxiliary ports which are dedicated to solely support cells that lose contention and consequently, they are not available to handle new cells. You will conceive, propose and briefly explain two alternative but mutually independent approaches which can be implemented within the scope of this architecture to achieve the following two goals:
Approach 1 - Design Goal 1: To reduce the expansion of the switch fabric.
Approach 2 - Design Goal 2: To eliminate the switch fabric expansion problem.
