LP Write it Out Project

Instructions: This assignment contains 2 parts: 1) Formulate this problem as a LP 2) Solve the LP in Excel. Part 1 should be submitted by taking a picture of the LP written out on a piece of paper. To answer part 2 you will answer a few questions in the LP Write it Out Excel Portion quiz.

You work for Watermelon Farms INC which grows two types of watermelons: seeded and seedless. WFI has entered into a contract to supply a national retail chain with a total of 28,000 seeded and 13,000 seedless watermelons. However, WFIs production capability is limited in three areas: land, water, and labor. The following table summarizes the resources that are available in your fields and how much each variety of watermelon uses:

The company grows seeded watermelons for $1.12 each and its seedless watermelons for $1.34 each. Alternatively, it can buy seeded watermelons and seedless watermelons from another source for $1.40 and $1.56, respectively. As part of the supplier relationship policy the company has committed to purchase at least 4,000 of each kind of melon from the supplier. How many seeded and seedless watermelons should WFI make and how many should it buy from its competitor in order to fulfill its contract in the least costly manner?
