The goal of this exercise is to help you understand how project management connects with collaboration. This activity asks you to walk through the planning and selecting of tasks and deadlines in order to prepare you for your work in Project 3. As you lay out your workflow, identify the specific tasks required to complete your report and assign them to specific team members with concrete deadlines. At the end of the exercise, you should have a plan to take your project from conception to conclusionfrom planning to final draft.
Because project 3 is a feasibility report, collaboration, and by extension project management, is a large component. Project management is organizing, planning, and executing, while considering outside constraints like your team members schedules, that go into the development of a deliverable. Having a sole project manager can help clarify expectations to team members and move the project along. The project manager should be someone with strong organizational and communication skills.
As you plan, remember that while the project extends for six weeks, that actually breaks down to one week for planning, three weeks for drafting, and two weeks for revision. Take these hard deadlines into consideration as you come up with your project management protocol.

As these chapters note, the information development cycle helps to chart out the steps needed to complete the deliverable effectively and within the project deadlines. By shifting Hackos' language of project management, let's align the stages of the report process to match the workflow of Project 3.
Figure 1 below shows the breakdown of a project, while the headings below describe each stage of the project process.

ASSIGNMENT
Now that you have some background as to how projects are structured, you will begin to develop your own project plan. Using the table in the attached document below, your team will work through each phase of the information cycle to begin developing your project plan.
You should list the tasks required of each phase (as well as ideas that you have, such as topics or research avenues), with the deadlines for each. Your deadlines can include deliverable dates but try to focus on spacing out your project based on each phase.

As previously noted, the six weeks of the project break down to one week for planning and design, three weeks for development and production, and two weeks for evaluation. Use these hard deadlines to inform your schedule.
