If I was the human resources manager at an organization, the first idea I would introduce to address the perception of older workers capabilities is start by sharing with the team my own personal experiences with working with an older co-worker. One of the advantages I had working with older co-workers is being able to gain knowledge about their past experience and how I could do things differently in my own life. Older peers tend to work more efficiently to get certain task completed due to past experiences. Another idea would be to create a workshop that centered around discrimination prevention and how to avoid unconscious bias. In the workshop, I would provide scenarios that show the advantages of hiring older workers.
