A concept that organizations are wise to remember, is that the employees who actually do the job are far more likely to have recommendations on how to do the job better than a board room full of investors. TQM involves all members of the organization and makes the effort to improve current processes. Top companies take the time to frequently meet with all levels of their employees to revisit current processes and brainstorm ideas on how to make them better and more effective. One company I worked for went as far as to financially compensate employees for ideas submitted that were eventually put into place. They called it their Star Program and employees were encouraged to submit at least one "Star Idea" per quarter. It could be anything about your job that would make it better or improve quality, customer satisfaction, employee morale, or quite literally any type of improvement to the company. Ideas were reviewed by a committee of peers and if approved and implemented into procedure, the employee who submitted the idea was rewarded with money and other types of recognition. The same company firmly believed that, just because this is how we've always done it, that doesn't mean there isn't a better way that it could be done. For the company I work for currently, in the hotel branch especially, there is a huge push for Google Reviews. Research shows that Google Reviews are a huge deciding factor for potential guests when looking for a place to stay or where to do business. They can literally make or break a company and as such, they are taken very seriously. Employees at the different hotels are strongly encouraged to go out of their way to offer exceptional service and to encourage guests to leave a Google review when they feel it's appropriate. The results have been positive and positive reviews are up significantly. Sales are projected to increase as a result of better reviews online.
