"Communication channels enhance communication effectiveness in organizations. I personally believe the best channel a leader should use during a communication episode such as company-wide layoff would be face-to-face discussion. According to Daft, 2018, Face-to-face discussions facilitate the assimilation of broad cues and deep, emotional understanding of the situation. Face-to-face communication allows company morale and productivity to be high. When giving news about the company's picnic I would use electronic messaging such as email and most likely social media, which is increasingly being used by more people overall. These channels also allow for rapid feedback. However, when it comes to new corporate quality goals that will require significant changes in how subordinates perform their tasks, leaders should choose a channel that fits the message. I would personally use electronic surveys to give employees a comfortable way of expressing their thoughts and ideas. In addition, to communicate nonverbally with the team and create a sense of trust and teamwork, I would definitely implement electronic communication such as text messaging which allows employees to share short handed messages instantly. This choice is becoming more popular and common than emails in organizations now in days. Daft also states that many of today's leaders use blogs as well in order to keep in closer touch and rebuild trust among employees, customers, shareholders and the public."
