Please write your response regarding this discussion. Are you agree or not?

After making the ethical decisions on the website, I believe the self-driving car designers have two main options. Either they avoid conflict with pedestrians and risk killing their passengers, or would rather protect their passengers with the chance of potentially killing pedestrians. The first choice has more to do with universalism, because they would protect innocent bystanders over the people who made the choice to buy the self-driving car knowing the dangers of being in it. The second choice exercises utilitarianism, meaning they take the actions that would benefit them, since they would be protecting their own customers, their reputation wouldn't suffer from that decision. Even though both options aren't the right ones, considering they could result in deaths of innocent people, the car designers should go with option 2, protecting their customers, and the passengers in the car. This benefits their business, because nobody would buy a self driving car that would rather kill its own customers than potential pedestrians on the streets. Ethically, this decision would protect both their business and their customers, with the liability of harming pedestrians.
