A team is a group of people who work together to accomplish something beyond their individual self-interests; but not all groups are teams. Even with an organizations best intentions, and countless efforts put in by team members, teams still fail due for various reasons. Teams without a clear and well-communicated understanding of purpose will typically not align themselves for success. Not knowing why you're all working together or not having a clear definition of effective teamwork will potentially result in most people pulling in different directions. However, failure is part of the learning process with teams. (Kreitner, & Kinicki, 2013).

There are leaders who have a lack of trust in their team. Trust is most meaningful in situations in which one party is at risk or vulnerable to another party, for this reason, it becomes crucial in relationship between management and employees. The level of trust between management and employees is an important factor to work performance. Because trust is a relational concept that occurs between people, both leaders and followers play a critical role in creating, sustaining, destroying and rebuilding trusting relationships (Bligh, 2017).

As a manager, it will be important for me to create a trusting work environment. I believe if I am honest with my workers, they will be more engaged, and I can keep quality employees. More importantly, my characteristics will align with conscious leadership of being fair, honest, caring and creating transparency for my team.
