Select an important process in your organization that relates to your work. Identify the start and end points of the process and the activities within the process, in sequence. If the standard time of each activity has not been recorded in the past, use a stop-watch for this purpose (ask the faculty how to determine the standard time from multiple timing trials).Ensure you select a process with multiple activities (15 to 25 would be suitable). Otherwise, it would not be worth the effort.

Required of you: 1 Draw the Process Flow Chart and Process Chart for the process under study using accepted conventions.

2 Conduct a ratio analysis exercise on how the time in the process was being used. 3 Determine the cycle time and throughput time of the process. 4 Review the process for improvement. Establish a benchmark to which you would like to improve the process performance. 5 Conduct a process improvement exercise (single iteration).
