Some possums living in the roof of Canberra College decided to take advantage of the quiet college corridors and run a Canberra College Gift. The final was run over 20 metres and the main prize was to be 30 nights of unlimited access to any food items left lying around in the undercroft. The four finalists in the 2022 Canberra College Gift were Plodder, Quaddy, Cubey and Hyper. A Maths teacher, taking a well-earned break from marking meshing test papers, heard a commotion and managed to record the race on an iPhone. They later shared the following data: Plodder started at the start line and was exactly the same distance from the start after 3 seconds as Cubey Possum. (Running to a straight line function) Quaddy Possum was given a head start, (a massive 9m). From Woodward's awesome recording we were able to identify that Quaddy crossed the start line twice at 6 seconds and at 15 seconds. (Running to a quadratic curve) Cubey as he was the winner in 2010, started with a handicap of 1.875m (behind the start line). After just 1 second we notice that Quaddy is exactly 7 metres ahead of him. Avoiding a near collision with Plodder Possum at 3 seconds, we see Cubey turn at the start line at 15 seconds. (Running to a cubic curve) Hyper Possum, (has some issues), he ran the race according to this formula...dd(tt) = -10 tt+0.625 + 20 (Where d is the distance from the start line, at time t). Question 1 (10 marks) Assuming that each of the Possums actually run the race according to their name sake function, find a function model for each of the four Possums.
