Assignment: Using the point method and the four basic factor categories, develop a job evaluation system for the university in Case 7-Eastern Provincial University on pages 481-491 in the Appendix of your textbook. Process to follow: Approach this assignment by going through the following four steps: 1. Identify the compensable factors for the system, including some from each of the four categories of skill, effort, responsibility, and working conditions. 2. Scale these factors, using the examples in Table 8.1 (pp. 280-281) of the textbook as a guideline. 3. Weight the factors, and then develop a rating chart using the one shown in Figure 8.1 (p. 283) of the textbook as a guideline. 4. Then, apply your system to arrive at a total point value for each position, and then create a single hierarchy of jobs. Summarize this information in a table by arranging the positions in order of the point totals, with the lowest at the bottom and highest at the top, similar to Table 8.2 (p. 284) in the textbook. Completed Case Submission should contain: - A cover page, - A listing of the compensable factors used in each of the four categories with a brief description of each factor (\#1 above), - The scale (the degree descriptions) for each factor (\#2 above), - The rating chart that you developed (\#3 above), and - The listing of the eleven jobs that you rated, from highest rating at the top, down to the lowest rating at the bottom (\#4 above)
