It is expected that many people do not know how important compensation is in the workplace. Without it, employees can be and are easily taken advantage of. It gives employees a sense of security. It makes them feel like they are not just assets to a company. It shows employees that their hard work and dedication to go above and beyond are appreciated. In the workplace today, compensation could be taken more seriously than it is. For example, workers should be compensated for sick and parental leave, and it should not be genderized. Your gender or age should not affect the decision of whether or not you should receive certain benefits.
Personally, compensation motivates me mainly because it is one of the main key factors of why I accept a job. Does the pay accommodate my monthly expenses? Are the benefits of working for this company actually beneficial to me? There are a lot of other factors in a workplace like teamwork, career advancement, work balance, etc. But how I benefited financially comes before any other factor. If I am not getting paid equally for the work that I am putting into a company, then I won't continue to work for that company. Employees' time and work is just as the person who owns the company and they should get treated just as such.
