Office politics hold a high level of importance in the workplace, especially when an individual is interested in advancing to higher levels on the organization chart within the business. Being known, having the right connections, and producing work that is highly recognized is the perfect beginning to a positive political foundation. All employees must implement and demonstrate good etiquette skills. Good etiquette skills must be exercised in order for employees to maintain their job. Lack of etiquette can make the workplace a difficult environment for employees and management to function in. I have seen many situations over the years where individuals have been terminated for lack of etiquette. Some of these examples are being late repeatedly, not calling and not showing up for work, disrespectful verbal exchanges with management, etc. I have also witnessed situations where political incompetence has been the reason individuals were not promoted. It always helps to build a healthy professional relationship with management and/or higher ups within the organization
