I am now a manager within an organization that has been in business for over 100 years. My initial focus is to immerse myself in the culture of the organization. This appears to be a strong culture, and I will have to work hard to maintain and reinforce it. I will speak with current managers and employees first off to learn the stories, rituals, material symbols, and language of the organization to learn what values and behaviors are most important (Courter/Robbins, 2018). Knowing these will help me to understand what makes this place tick, and not disrupt the stability of the culture.
I will ensure that there is a proper socialization process in place for new employees for them to adapt to the organizations culture. I believe specific orientation and training along with individual socialization will be the right combination to immerse the new employees into the culture. The orientation and training will help them to feel more comfortable with the role they are hired for, and the individual socialization should help them fully understand the organization (Courter/Robbins, 2018).
I will also need to reassure all current and new employees that I do not plan to disrupt the culture with my ideas for change. The changes that need to be made are for the best interest of the organization to grow and continue onto 200 years in business. I would want the opinions of those who know the business better that I on how to apply more innovative and sustainable ideas to the current operations.

I was brought into a business that has been around for over 100 years, it is my first day on the job as Manager. The first thing I need to do is meet with my team and introduce myself to everyone. I want to get a feeling of the new environment and start getting to work on the job. I want to see how they run the business in their perspective. Is there a better way then theirs? Could we change something? Will this work? Or what if we tried something new? Asking questions is never a bad thing because you always want to fully understand something and looking beyond your team to see the background behind it. Staying positive is always important to the business, you will start to notice growth and progress. Holding meetings to set goals and see what we need to focus on in the workplace. Meetings are always helpful, just be sure to make a work plan before calling the meeting so we do not forget anything. By the end of my first day I want to do a walk through of the workplace and see how things should look at the end of the day so the morning associates can begin theirs.
