The Common Core Standards are a set of learning standards that have been designed in an effort to make sure that students receive the same education in language arts and math in many states across the nation. California adopted the Common Core in both language arts and math in 2010 and are what guides curriculum and instruction today. As a teacher, it is important to become familiar with the California Common Core Standards and other content area standards, as these are what will drive your lesson planning, instruction, and assessment in the classroom. Below are some California math standards for third grade. Find the standard that represents you and respond to the following:

1. List the standard you are responsible for.
2. Describe, in detail, an activity you will use to teach the concept.
3. Discuss a learning objective for the activity.
4. Briefly discuss how you will meet the needs of all learners using this activity.
5. Discuss how you will know that your students are successful in meeting the learning objective (i.e. some type of assessment).

Understand properties of multiplication and the relationship between multiplication and division. 5.
