Write a paragraph response to following post with substance .Debate the subject at an intellectual level.
I agree and disagree with this statement, its easy to just pick one thing and say yeah kids should not play sports because of injuries and the impact of it throughout the rest of their life. When it comes to youth sports, this can be seen as a lifesaver for many kids. Many of us have heard from professionals about how beneficial sports are and were in their lives growing up, how if they didnt have sports, they could be doing other things. Being in sports growing up saved me from being on shows like my 600lb life because honestly the way I ate and how I loved sweets I could have easily been on there. Also, sports could help with my social and communication skills on a team working with a team to achieve the same common goal. This has allowed me to work well with others as an adult.
I much as I disagree because of the benefits of sports in health, I tend to agree with the statement according to the video. Kid's sports have been overemphasized, overspecialized, and most importantly overtrained. Overtraining and overplaying are very big things that I agree takes up entirely too much time and sometimes can be considered a big waste of money. When I grew up, I played football, basketball, and some baseball. When playing I didnt do much extra training with a trainer, now you see it all the time most of the time kids are pressured by parents because of the possibility of making it to the highest level of the sport.
Also, kids during the season now play most of the time five times a week, compared to myself we played on just Saturday and maybe a Friday and never on Sundays. They now play Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Just imagine the significance of most injuries because of the pressure to play, many of them get hurt and dont get checked out by a doctor because either their parents dont have the funds to or just dont really care. Kids having ACL surgeries are scary, I cant remember ever playing and one of my teammates having a significant injury like this.
One thing that really is hurting sports is the overzealous parents. Its a pastime now to go to a youth game and sit watch. At almost every game now a loud parent or several loud parents are yelling at either their kid, a referee, a coach, or just yelling something for no real reason. Most of the time those parents cant do half of the things these kids, coaches, or referees do, but consistently acts out at every game. These types of parents are the same ones that live through their kids, hoping that the louder they yell the better the kids will be and hopefully be closer to them going professional, especially in the male sports. Altogether though, youth sports have some pros and cons, but it still is needed for all youth. Somewhere in between is the best thing for youth but just like most things we just need a little balance.
