In this situation the car salesman wants to sell at the highest rate he can since he gets a commission and usually have their margin numbers which the buyer does not know of. While negotiating I knew it was the end of the month and that usually their sales quotas operate according to month and year ends. I ended up speaking directly of how I wanted the vehicle and asked since it was end of the month what was the best price I could get and that I did not want to spend a lot of time haggling. I used the integrative strategy by showing him helping me by getting me a better price would help him reach his sales goals. Showing him that it would be a win-win scenario worked out great for me.
