In the laboratory, you are studying the formation of hydrogen iodide from molecular hydrogen and molecular iodine. For one experiment, your start with a mixture of all three gases with the following partial pressures: PH2=0.200atm,P12=0.150atm,PHl= 0.400atm. H2(g)+I2(g)2HI(g)Kp=38.4 Calculate the equilibrium partial pressures for all three gases. Your video response for this activity should include all of the following: - Is this system at equilibrium? If not, in which direction will the reaction proceed to reach equilibrium? To answer these questions, demonstrate how to calculate the reaction quotient, Q, and explain how we use Q and K to determine if the system is at equilibrium. - Set up a RICE table to determine the equilibrium partial pressures of each of the gases, explain how we read the RICE table, and set up the equilibrium calculation to solve the problem. - This problem will require using the quadratic equation to solve for x. You do not need to walk through the quadratic calculations, however, the calculation will result in two values for x. Report both values of x and explain how you know which one must be the correct solution for this problem. - Report the final equilibrium partial pressures for each of the three gases
