Please help me summarize the given article in easy vocabulary.
Introduction
It has been more than two decades of experience adopting and implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in business. However, the success of these systems remains debatable. Enterprise system implementation failures are a prevalent issue in organizations, leading to significant financial losses and project delays. Understanding the contributing factors to these failures is crucial for organizations to develop effective strategies for successful implementation. This article review report aims to explore the existing literature on the contributing factors to enterprise system implementation failures in organizations and propose solutions to overcome them.
The origin of Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems dates back more than five decades. ERP, which began from manufacturing cores two decades ago, has covered nearly all critical processes and functions of organisations due to the exponential growth of information
technology (IT) and business requirements (Huang & Yasuda, 2016). Since 1990, ERP systems have been used to help organisations redesign business processes using IT, and it has been a part of organisational change that is either IT-driven or IT-mediated (Nagpal et al.,2015). ERP systems provide many advantages, and organisations adopt them to change inefficient stand-alone legacy systems, enhance communications between business capabilities, improve data processing, enhance customer relations, and improve the overall quality of decision-making (Cereola,2006). Furthermore, ERP systems can also bring uniformity to the complete business enterprise by bringing all the business processes/tasks under one umbrella.
